US, Las Vegas: Las Vegas Metro Police Investigate Fraud Operation by Business in Southeast Valley With Sound On Tape
Las Vegas, United States - January 30, 2025 01/30/2025 02:00 pm (GMT-0800) LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fraudulent job application scheme in southeast Las Vegas that has impacted numerous individuals. On January 21, authorities reported that an online advertisement was posted seeking third-party delivery drivers for Amazon. Prospective applicants in Las Vegas were directed to complete an application and submit a $200 fee in person at a business located on the 3100 block of East Sunset Road, per the LVMPD regarding the incident. According to Metro police, the payments were collected in various forms, including cash, checks, and prepaid cards. Applicants were given a future date to return for an interview. However, when they returned, they discovered that the persons involved had vacated the business. It was at that time that they believed they were victims of a scam, stated a spokesperson for the LVMPD in a briefing. Following the incident, multiple victims shared details about the scam on social media, leading to additional reports to law enforcement. Financial crime detectives are currently investigating, and Metro police are collaborating with the Clark County Department of Business Licensing to determine the business's operational history in the area. Authorities have confirmed that the fraudulent operation has no connection to Amazon.
