Powerful drone explosion strikes amid Ukraine's long-range attack in Smolensk, Russia
On January 21, 2025, in Smolensk, Russia, a video captured a powerful drone explosion in the night sky. The footage shows the drone's engine whirring as it approaches, becoming louder before a large drone briefly appears in the frame, exploding, and crashing.
Reports indicate that the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an attack on the Smolensk region using long-range drones, identified as the PD-2 and "Lyuty" models. These drones are capable of reaching distances of approximately 1,000 kilometers and carrying up to 75 kilograms of explosives.
Significant damage was reported following the explosion, with numerous holes found in cars and apartment windows.
