Interview with Paul Atherton the newest member of the Worlds oldest YMCA which shut its doors for the last time

The very last day of the world's oldest YMCA. The YMCA was founded on the site in 1844 and has had a significant presence ever since. Providing both physical activity as well as art and creativity and above all community.

It held London's largest Gym a 25-meter swimming pool, as well as a Sauna and steam room. The site was sold to Criterion Capital the same people that have put the much loved Prince Charles Cinema under threat.

Sadly the YMCA will be turned into a Zedwell Hotel.

There was much sadness and hugs among members of the YMCA totally heartbroken by the loss.. Many of the more elderly members having been members for over 40 years made an appearance to say goodbye. Sad that once it goes that there is nothing else like this in central London.

Questioning various people many are also upset at the board of Trustees at the YMCA. believing that they not only let members down but effectively did their best to help Criterion Capital instead of their own members.
