Drone footage shows the stunning lava flows from Mount Etna, a volcano currently engaged in an eruption that began on February 8.

Etna, the most active volcano in Europe, is currently engaged in an eruption that began on 8 February 2025. The eruption is classified as a subterminal event, with lava escaping from a fissure located at the base of the Bocca Nuova crater, at approximately 3,000 meters above sea level. The lava flow is advancing towards the Alto montana road.

In addition to the effusive activity, intermittent Strombolian and explosive activity with fallout of volcanic sand and lapilli was observed at the South-East Crater. The amplitude of the volcanic tremor remains at moderate levels, and seismic activity is detected along the Pernicana fault.

This type of rash could persist for several days or even weeks. At the moment there are no reports of inconvenience affecting local communities, but the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) is carefully monitoring the situation to evaluate any developments.
