Los Angeles, United States - February 13, 2025 02/13/2025 12:00 am (GMT-0800) PANORAMA CITY, LOS ANGELES, Calif.– At approximately 12:40 p.m., rescuers responded to a report of a vehicle in the Los Angeles River near Noble Avenue and Parthenia Street with potential victims in the water. The Los Angeles Fire Department deployed multiple ground teams downstream of the vehicle in search of potential victims. Los Angeles Fire Department Air Operations assisted in the search from the air. The Los Angeles Fire Department Swift Water Rescue team, along with the Urban Search and Rescue team, hoisted a rescuer down to the vehicle who shattered all of the windows and confirmed there were no victims inside. Additional information from the Los Angeles Police Department identified the vehicle as an old wreckage. With this information, the LAFD concluded their search and declared the incident a false alarm. Rescuers marked the top of the vehicle with bright orange paint to signify it had been cleared to prevent future false responses. This incident is one of many river rescues the LAFD handled Thursday during the rainstorm.
