Egypt: Seminar on Xinjiang's development held in Cairo
Cairo, Egypt - February 18, 2025 A seminar on the economic and social development of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, sponsored by China's State Council Information Office, was held in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on Tuesday. A delegation of cultural exchange composed of scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Xinjiang Research Institute of Culture and History, and Xinjiang University, elaborated on Xinjiang's economic and social progress in recent years. They also introduced policies and practices in China's governance in Xinjiang, presenting the achievements in Xinjiang's economic and social development, underlying the Chinese government's strong commitment to addressing employment issues in the region and measures taken to protect the labor rights of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. Tursun Ebey, an associate professor of Xinjiang University's School of Journalism and Communication who has long worked and lived in Xinjiang, shared his personal experiences in Xinjiang's human rights endeavors. Ali El-Hefny, vice chairman of the Cairo-based Egypt-China Friendship Association and former Egyptian ambassador to China, and Salah Adli, general secretary of the Communist Party of Egypt, attended the seminar and had in-depth exchanges with the delegation members.
