We were hiking in Boynton Canyon in Sedona, AZ and when we rounded the corner, my wife said “Woo! A Javelina!!” And I said “A have-a-what?!” There right in front of us was this cute little creature about 18” high. At first I thought it was a wild pig or boar, but I didn’t see any tusks. So, I figured it was harmless. It walked around grazing and didn’t even notice us. I reckon they have poor eye sight or hearing. There were more hikers behind us and my wife alerted them. When one of the other hikers went closer for a photo, the javelina finally noticed us and scampered away.
