STORYLINE:

A series of celebration activities were held on Saturday to mark the Longtaitou Festival, or Dragon Head-raising Day, in many places across China.

In a village in Hubei Province, residents enjoyed the dragon boat races, lion dances, and other vibrant traditions.

In a village in Shaanxi Province, communities gathered as the vibrant "Zhuanjiuqu" (meaning turning the nine bends in Chinese) celebrations lit up the night.

The centuries-old ritual, symbolizing the awakening of spring and prayers for prosperity, saw locals weave through a labyrinth of lantern-lit pathways arranged in intricate patterns.

Participants carried torches and offerings, chanting folk songs to invoke blessings for agricultural abundance and familial well-being.

The Longtaitou Festival falls on the second day of the second month in the traditional Chinese calendar. The most notable tradition on the day is getting a haircut.
