A woman recovering from surgery celebrated her birthday by slicing off the bunion on a half-metre-long foot cake.

Claudia Sheed, 28, had surgery on her right foot five weeks ago and had joked about wanting a "bunion cake" to mark the occasion."

To her surprise, a family friend delivered on the idea and baked a cake in the shape of a foot for her 28th birthday.

The foot, which had a bunion, was complete with a daisy-themed design to reflect Claudia's nickname.

Claudia, who works in marketing in London, UK said: "It was better than I ever thought it would be."

"I was obsessed with it."

"It was so personal to me and it tasted amazing too."

"When my friend presented me I made sure to cut the bunion first."

"It was a Madeira cake with white chocolate, so it tasted just as good as it looked."
