Tepoztlán, Mexico - February 25, 2025 On March 25, X user EIVAUT posted a video of the forest fire in Tepoztlán, Mexico. They wrote: “Tepoztlán now 3/25/2025 9 PM.” The head of Morelos’ Secretariat of Sustainable Development, Alan Dupré Ramírez, announced that a helicopter will assist in fighting the fire in Santo Domingo Hill, Tepoztlán, starting Wednesday, March 26. According to the latest report from the Unified Forest Fire Command, which includes several agencies, the fire is 40% controlled and 30% extinguished. The affected area covers about 100 hectares of pine-oak forest. The fire remains a surface blaze. On Tuesday, March 25, 215 forest brigade members from various groups, including volunteers, were deployed across three operational divisions in the eastern and western fronts, focusing on Oxtopulco. A Relámpago aircraft from the State of Mexico supported containment efforts with reconnaissance flights. Ground and air operations will resume Wednesday, as nighttime work is avoided for safety reasons. Authorities stated the fire poses no current threat to nearby homes. However, they are closely monitoring critical areas to prevent risks. They urged the public not to join firefighting efforts without proper training or experience.
