Protests intensified as supporters demanded the return of the monarchy in Nepal.

Footage shows burning debris scattering across the highway as loyalists gather in large crowds while waving Nepalese flags in Kathmandu on March 28.

The demonstrators was in support of the restoration of the Hindu monarchy and the reinstatement of former King Gyanendra Shah.

The activists expressed their anger with the current republican government's performance, chanting slogans such as 'King, come save the country' and 'Down with the corrupt government, we want the monarchy back'.

The protests escalated into violent clashes with security forces, particularly in the Tinkune area, where demonstrators vandalized and set fire to buildings. Two people were killed and more than 30 others were injured.

In response to the violence, authorities imposed a curfew in the affected regions and deployed additional security forces to restore order.

The monarchy in Nepal was abolished in 2008, transitioning the nation into a secular republic. However, ongoing political instability, corruption, and economic challenges have led to a resurgence of pro-monarchy sentiments among certain segments of the population.
