INTERVIEW WITH PALESTINIAN JOURNALIST BASIL ABU TAHINEGAZA, PALESTINE - APRIL 24: Palestinian journalist Saeed Abu Hassanein was killed on Wednesday night, Apr. 23, in an Israeli air strike on the city of Deir el-Balah in the Gaza Strip. The Al-Aqsa Radio journalist was killed along with his wife and daughter after their tent was bombed by Israel. A funeral ceremony was held for Hassanein and his family at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital on Thursday, Apr. 24. Over 210 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, according to Palestinian figures. Israel resumed its offensive on the Gaza Strip on March 18, abandoning a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. It has killed nearly 51,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the enclave since October 2023. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war that has left the territory on the brink of famine.
