Speaking to reporters after the talks at the Presidential Dolmabahce Office in Istanbul, Medinskiy said the Russian delegation had arrived in Türkiye under instructions from President Putin to hold direct, unconditional bilateral negotiations with Ukraine. He noted that Russia had clearly outlined its position during the meeting with Fidan and expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts. Medinskiy said the Russian side would be ready to begin discussions with Ukraine starting at 10 a.m. on May 16, stating: “We are ready to work.”
