At Alice and Tom’s wedding, James Morris captured a moment that transcended time, a display of unwavering love and devotion from Tom’s Grandad, Les.

As rain threatened to ruin the group photos, Les stepped forward, tears welling up, and asked: “Excuse me, do you mind if my wife Betty comes in the photograph?”

James turned to look for her, only to see Les pull a laminated photo from his top pocket, holding her close to his heart, just as he had done for 63 years of marriage before she passed last year.

Later, during the ceremony, James captured another powerful shot, Les sitting not alone, but with Betty’s photo, keeping his promise to bring her to the wedding.

My first wedding back couldn't have been a bigger honour and a privilege.

The day was incredible from start to finish, I loved the big creative moments with the couple and the laughs along the way but those small moments with huge impacts got me deep in my heart and soul.

There's one moment that really pulled on my heartstrings.....

We were setting up the groups and moving quite quickly as it started to rain. Alice ( bride ) & Tom ( groom ) stepped in to have a photograph with Tom's Grandad ( Les ).

As I said we were moving quite quickly due to the rain so we didn't get too wet, as I was about to shape up to take the shot Les stepped forwards with his eyes welling up with tears and said ....

" excuse me do you mind if my wife ( Betty ) comes in the photograph?"

I said " Sure " and checked around to see where Betty was.....

As I turned back Les reached into his top pocket and took out a photograph of Betty who was in a wonderful outfit.

He kept her nice and safe near his heart and protected the image with a laminate around the photograph.

At that moment I was a little taken back and felt super honoured to be part of that heartfelt moment all while trying not to break down and cry.

During the ceremony I had seen Les sitting by " himself " so grabbed a shot of him as I do most guests at weddings.

It wasn't till I got back home to edit the gallery that I came across the second image of Les NOT sat alone but sat with Betty.

He had taken Betty out of his pocket to watch the ceremony.

Les promised Betty that he would take her to Alice & Toms wedding and he was a true gent and a man of his word.

This is real love. True love. A once in a lifetime love.
