Fire forced evacuations as flames spread in Greer, Arizona.

The wind-driven blaze, called the Greer Fire, erupted in the small town more than 200 miles northeast of Phoenix on May 13, around 11 am.

Authorities reported that the blaze had grown to 20,425 acres by Monday and was 38 per cent contained.

The Apache County Office of Emergency Management has issued a 'go' evacuation order for residents south of Highway 260 and west of River Road.

Officials urge residents to evacuate immediately and follow all safety instructions as firefighting crews battle the growing inferno.

Greer is a small mountain town near the state's border with New Mexico and had fewer than 60 residents as of the 2020 census.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
