Footage shows hundreds of football fans left stranded and sleeping on a "freezing cold floor" in a bus station in Spain after the Europa League final."

Patrice Mulligan, 64, captured the chaotic scene just hours after watching her beloved Tottenham Hotspur lift silverware for the first time in 17 years - following a historic win against Manchester United at the San Mamés Stadium.

With no buses or trains running, the video - taken shortly after 2am on May 22 - shows fans sleeping on the "stone cold floor" of the Bilbao Intermodal bus station."

Patrice, her husband, Rob, 62, and the rest of their eight-person group were trying to back to their van in Basauri - a town on the outskirts of Bilbao - after a night out following the game, before driving the two hours back to their accommodation.

Instead, they spent four hours trying to sleep on the floor of the bus station before the metro began running again at 6am.

According to Patrice, the transport confusion came after many fans thought trains would be running until 3am.

Patrice, from Huntingdon, Cambs., said: "It was horrendous. "

"We spent the night sleeping on the floor with thousands of others."

"There were no buses, no cabs, no trains - it was awful."

"UEFA has a lot to answer for - what did they expect was going to happen?"

"There was a lot of elderly people there - I was just incensed."

Because of their ordeal, Patrice and her group didn't get back to their accommodation until 9am.

She said: "We were there for the best part of three and a half, four hours."

"I didn't get much sleep - the floor was stone cold in this bus shelter. "

"It was freezing."

"I couldn't lie down; I started shivering. It was that cold."
