Freediver Ellie Hayden, founder of @saltypilgrimsfreediving, experienced what she calls the best moment of her life, an unforgettable interaction with three wild Orcas.

Out of the deep blue, the majestic creatures swam straight toward her and her team, choosing to engage with them in a way that felt profound and full of energy. As they glided under their fins, turning around to lock eyes, Ellie described the moment as life-changing, filled with emotions she never could have imagined.

The best moment of our entire lives. These 3 Orca swam out of the blue and started coming straight in for us, choosing to interact with us. They were just specs when we first noticed them approaching, and at the start of the video I squealed when I realised they were coming straight for us, with nothing and no one else around.

They kept coming closer and closer, until they were gliding just below our feet, then slowly they turned around and looked at us in the eyes, just 2 metres away from us. It was as if the mother was showing her baby what we were. It was the most profound and spiritual moment of our whole lives, Orca hold some BIG energy. My whole body was shaking, and I couldn't help but to cry because of the softness, the beauty and the energy that was being created by the encounter. To best describe it, it felt like God was staring straight at us.

Not once did the Orca feel in any way threatening, and I can't help but wonder what they were feeling in this moment.
