Population aging in Iran has become an increasingly prominent issue in recent years. With declining fertility rates and rising life expectancy, the proportion of elderly people in the country is increasing rapidly. UNFPA projects that by 2050, one-third of Iran’s population will be aged 60 and over. In Tehran’s Enqelab Square, a giant banner was displayed to raise awareness about the country’s aging population. The banner read in Persian: “Warning, we are aging” and “If we don’t consider having children, we will face the danger of an aging society.”
