ONE OF PROTESTERS BEATRIZ SPEAKING TO REPORTER (Spanish) MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - MAY 28, 2025: Protesters gathered outside the National Palace in Mexico city on Wednesday (May 28) during President Claudia Sheinbaum’s daily press conference. The demonstrators, carrying Palestinian flags, called on the Mexican government to cut diplomatic ties with Israel and held a cacerolazo demonstration by banging pots and pans. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing over 54,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
