The situation is dire. People are dying. There’s nothing at these aid sites.” “The places people go to for help—they don’t come back from. It’s the same story every time. The crowd is overwhelming.” “People are being told to go back, while others shout to move forward—but there’s nothing to reach. Maybe you’ll get a box. BODY IN AMBULANCE (TWO SHOTS) 13. BODY BEING CARRIED TO NASSER HOSPITAL SCRIPT A Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli forces Thursday while trying to reach an aid distribution point in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, local sources said. Thousands of Palestinians gathered for the third consecutive day at the Morag Corridor, northwest of Rafah, where humanitarian assistance remains scarce amid a months-long Israeli blockade. Crowds rushed to the site, operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Aid Foundation, despite limited supplies. Many left with only small packages of aid—or nothing at all. “The areas set up for aid—there are four or five—can each hold maybe 500 to 1,000 people, but with 50,000 people showing up, it’s impossible,” said Haitham Abu Aziz, a Palestinian man seeking food. “The situation is dire. People are dying. There’s nothing at these aid sites.” Amid the crowd, shots were fired into the air to disperse people. One person was confirmed dead during the chaos. Israel has kept Gaza crossings closed to food, medical and humanitarian aid since March 2, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis in the enclave, according to government, human rights and international reports. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing more than 54,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war crimes against civilians in the enclave.
