While exploring the scenic Nara Park in Japan, TikTok user "naideshh" experienced a uniquely charming local tradition. Offering a special biscuit to a wandering deer, she was delighted when the deer bowed in return, a well-known behavior in the park.

But as many visitors quickly learn, once the deer know you’ve got food, they don’t hold back, gently nudging, nibbling, and tugging on clothes in pursuit of more treats.

While exploring Nara Park in Japan, I made a new friend! I offered it a special deer biscuit, and to my surprise, it bowed to me in return. In Nara, the deer are known to bow politely when asking for food and it’s the sweetest thing ever. But beware, once they know you’ve got snacks, they’re not shy! Some even gently nibble or tug on your clothes to get your attention. It was such a heartwarming and hilarious experience a perfect mix of Japan’s charm and quirkiness.
