This is the shocking moment a monkey swaggered into a cafe and stole snacks from the counter.

The primate entered the shop and briefly looked around before suddenly leaping onto the display rack to snatch the pastry in Maha Sarakham, Thailand.

Footage shows a barista preparing drinks behind the espresso machine, unaware that the macaque had walked in on February 24.

Moments later, the animal launched itself onto the glass panel and grabbed the packed piece of bread before dashing out of the cafe.

The visibly stunned worker then leaned over the counter to see what had happened, spotting the monkey running out of the area.

Monkeys are common in the region and are known to snatch food and even break into homes in search of meals.
