Apple Valley, United States - June 11, 2025 A fast-moving wildfire has destroyed a home and scorched more than 4,000 acres in San Bernardino County. The Ranch Fire ignited just after 2:30 p.m. near Bowen Ranch Road and Roundup Way in Apple Valley. By 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, it had burned 4,205 acres, according to Cal Fire officials. Flames driven by strong winds engulfed a single-story home as firefighters battled to contain the blaze. Evacuation orders remain in effect from Milpas Drive to High Road, south of Highway 18. An evacuation shelter was established at Sitting Bull Academy in Apple Valley. An animal evacuation center was opened at the Victorville Fairgrounds. Conditions remain dangerous, with humidity dropping to 10–15% and wind gusts reaching 26 mph. These critical weather patterns are expected to fuel further fire activity. Cal Fire announced the fire was 10% contained as of Wednesday morning. Previously, there had been no containment.
