Dutch investors pull back from U.S. stocks amid policy concerns: Rabobank survey
Storyline: More than a quarter of Dutch investors have reduced their holdings in U.S. shares over the past six months, driven by concerns over unpredictable U.S. policies, according to a survey released Thursday by Rabobank, a leading Dutch cooperative bank specializing in financial research. The study found that 26 percent of respondents had scaled back their U.S. stock investments, either individually or jointly with a partner. Moreover, nearly 60 percent expressed reluctance to invest further in U.S. equities, highlighting widespread hesitation. Rabobank reported that many investors characterized the U.S. market climate as "uncertain," "unpredictable," and "unreliable." The research further highlighted that U.S. policies were a significant driver of this shift in sentiment. Additionally, U.S. policies were frequently mentioned as " reasons why investors have become more negative about investing in the U.S.," according to the study. Investors see the role of the U.S. on the world stage as the biggest threat to the value of their investments over the next 12 months, the survey showed. The findings are based on a nationwide survey conducted between April 14 and May 6, 2025. It involved 1,868 Dutch citizens aged 18 to 80, of whom 632 reported holding individual or joint stock investments. Shotlist: FILE: Amsterdam, Netherlands - March 16, 2017: 1.
