The art project, titled "The Herds," features giant animal puppets made entirely of cardboard, symbolizing the forced migration of wildlife due to environmental destruction. The initiative, led by The Walk Productions, aims to draw attention to the escalating climate crisis and its impact on ecosystems. The puppets, partially crafted by students from Wimbledon College of Arts, began their London tour near London Bridge before moving through key locations, including Soho, Somerset House, Coram's Fields, Camden High Street, and Stratford. Performers animated the figures in front of large crowds, depicting animals fleeing their habitats as a result of climate disasters. The giant puppets set out on April 9 from Democratic Republic of Congo , travelling overland from Africa and on into Europe with their final destination of the Arctic Circle. Organizers said the project seeks to emphasize the urgent need for action against ecological destruction and the threats faced by vulnerable species.
