Green Park station in central London evacuated after 'local power failure'
Green Park Underground station in central London was evacuated on Tuesday evening (July 1).
Footage recorded moments after travellers were evacuated from the station shows a TFL staff member locking a gate to the station and a sign lit up reading "emergency do not enter".
Transport for London (TFL) said the station was closed "due to a local power failure".
The station closure happened as the Piccadilly line faced severe delays as commuters travelled home on the hottest day of the year so far in the UK. Temperatures reached 34.7C in nearby St James's Park according to the Met Office. It is currently unknown whether the power failure is related to the hot weather.
