A small car performs a "dragon tail swing" to make way for the car behind.
On July 4, on a street in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, a new energy vehicle activated its "dragon tail swing" function while waiting at a red light to make space for a vehicle approaching from the rear side, allowing it to pass smoothly.
The vehicle in question was a Denza Z9GT new energy car. Its "dragon tail swing" feature is technically known as the "compass turn," a capability enabled through the YiSanFang technology platform.
This vehicle is equipped with three independent motors, providing powerful and precise control. The rear wheels are steered independently by dual motors, significantly enhancing the car’s maneuverability.
The "compass turn" works by locking one of the front wheels as a pivot point while the two rear wheels rotate in opposite directions, allowing the vehicle to execute an almost in-place 180-degree turn — or even a full 360-degree rotation — within a confined space. This technology is especially useful for parking and turning around in tight areas.
