This is the amusing moment a black swan appeared to feed a school of koi carp in a pond in China.

Shen Xin and his family were strolling through a park when they saw the waterfowl surrounded by hungry fish in Zhejiang, China.

Footage shows the bird pecking pellets on the edge of the pool and dropping them into the water, where a couple of large fish were swimming below on June 14.

The aquatic animal can be seen eagerly feeding underwater.

Experts say swans do not intentionally feed fish but instead moisten dry pellets by dipping them into the water to aid swallowing, inadvertently allowing fish to consume any excess food.

Marine biologist Chris Dahl explained: 'Swans need to moisten the pellets to help them swallow and digest the food, and as they do this, a few pellets inadvertently slip out of their beaks. Of course, koi aren't going to pass up a free meal, so they eagerly await any food that escapes the swans.'
