US: Protesters Storm Google Headquarters In New York Over Climate Collusion With Trump
New York, United States - July 08, 2025 A dramatic protest erupted at Google’s St. John’s Terminal headquarters in Hudson Square, as Extinction Rebellion NYC activists launched a direct action campaign against Big Tech. Just before noon, two protesters splashed paint in front of the company’s internal branding, climbed onto the front desk, and displayed a banner that read: “Tech Loves Trump.” They shouted, “Google! Dump Trump!” before being arrested. The protest came only two days after a similar action at Apple’s Fifth Avenue store. “Big Tech had a choice—and they chose Trump,” said Nate Smith, a spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion NYC. “They’re propping up a regime that’s torching climate policy, reopening coal plants, and putting our future on the line. This is a betrayal of everything they claim to stand for.” Tech leaders, including Sundar Pichai, were present at Trump’s 2025 inauguration, a move that sparked widespread backlash from environmental groups. Google’s emissions have risen over 50% since 2019 due to its energy-hungry AI data centers. Activists warned of dire consequences from unchecked emissions and fossil fuel use, including the loss of billions of lives and economic collapse. Danielle, a protester from Texas, said, “While my homestate is underwater right now, Google stays silent. What matters more—AI, or a livable future?” Extinction Rebellion NYC urged the public to boycott tech firms enabling climate destruction and authoritarian politics.
