MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - JULY 26: Hundreds of dancers and actors gathered in Mexico City’s iconic Zocalo square on Saturday, July 26, to mark the 700th anniversary of the founding of Mexico-Tenochtitlan, the ancient capital of the Mexica empire.
The large-scale performance brought to life key moments from the city’s legendary history, combining music, dance, and theatrical scenes.
Spectators filled the historic plaza, witnessing a colorful tribute to a city that laid the foundations for modern-day Mexico City.
Founded around 1325, Tenochtitlan was once one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated urban centers before falling to Spanish conquistadors in the early 16th century.
Saturday’s event highlighted the enduring cultural legacy of the Mexica civilization, which continues to shape Mexican identity today.
