VARIOUS OF SECURITY CHECKPOINTS AND 'ROAD CLOSED' SIGNS AROUND PREMISESTURNBERRY, UK - JULY 27: Security was tightened around Donald Trump’s Turnberry resort in Scotland on Sunday, July 27, with police patrols and road closures in place ahead of upcoming EU–US tariff negotiations. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived in the coastal town of Turnberry in southwest Scotland earlier on Sunday to meet US President Donald Trump. Police and intelligence teams were deployed around the town as both sides prepared for negotiations on reducing tariffs. The talks come amid tensions over a planned 30% import duty the Trump administration aims to impose on European goods. Since taking office, Trump has implemented tariffs of 50% on steel and aluminum from EU countries, 25% on automotive imports, and 10% on other products. His administration recently informed the EU of additional tariffs starting August 1. The high-level meeting is expected to focus on easing those proposed measures.
