New York, United States - July 28, 2025 [WARNING: sensitive content/blood images] A video posted by X user aDNA-MENA shows police officers carrying a man and placing him on the sidewalk to provide medical assistance. The user reported that a man was shot by an active shooter in New York City. The footage was filmed at the corner of East 51st Street and Lexington Avenue. The shooting occurred on July 28, 2025, shortly before 6:30 p.m., inside a building at 345 Park Avenue and 52nd Street in New York. Authorities confirmed that four people died, including an off-duty NYPD officer working security. A fifth person was critically injured. Officials identified the shooter as 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura from Las Vegas. He was wearing body armor and armed with a high-powered M4 rifle. Tamura entered the building alone after parking a double-parked BMW and opened fire. He shot the NYPD officer in the lobby, then fired at a security guard near the elevators. After reaching the 33rd floor, Tamura shot another individual before dying from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police found a loaded revolver, ammunition, a rifle case, a backpack, and prescription medication in his vehicle. Tamura held a concealed carry license in Nevada. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Tamura drove cross-country and is believed to have acted alone. Witness Jessica Chen described hearing rapid gunfire and barricading herself in a conference room. “I texted my parents, ‘I love them,’” she said. The FBI responded to the scene, and Governor Kathy Hochul confirmed she had been briefed. KPMG, with offices in the building, released a statement expressing sympathy for the victims and gratitude for law enforcement and security.
