Elton John was spotted leaving a glamorous Cannes restaurant hand in hand with husband David Furnish.

La Guérite, a popular celebrity dining spot on small island Île Sainte-Marguerite off the coast of Cannes, is frequented by Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio and the Beckhams.

The singer is heard saying, "I can't see," as he exited the restaurant, perhaps reacting to the bright sunshine."

Elton, in pink shorts and matching sunglasses, was wearing a chunky beaded necklace, holding his husband's hand on one side and another man's hand as he walked out into the sunshine.

Robert Kluge, 35, an aircraft charter broker from Dusseldorf, Germany, was surprised to see Elton leaving the beach club at 3.45pm on Friday (1).

Robert said: "It's a smooth lunch spot, but it becomes a party, basically for rich people. Elton was leaving as it became a party."

"We were already filming the scenery, you know, for our memories. We didn't know he was in the restaurant. Pure coincidence."

"I like his music - I've never seen him this close. It was quite nice to see."
