This is the hilarious moment a young boy toppled off a chair while trying to reach his drum toy.

Footage captured by Mr Li shows his son attempting to grab the pink percussion instrument placed on top of a cabinet in Shandong, China.

The youngster first attempted poking the toy with a power twister bar, but when that failed, he fetched a broomstick on July 4.

His father assisted briefly, then returned the toy to its place at the child's request.

Moments later, the boy climbed back onto the stool and tried to retrieve the drum again using the pole.

However, as he stepped backward, he lost his balance and fell off the chair, landing with his waist hitting the edge of the furniture.

He did not suffer any injuries from the mishap.
