On July 30, 2025, a warm summer afternoon brought new excitement to the Prague Zoo. Inside the gorilla pavilion of the zoo, nestled in Hlavní město Praha, Czechia, a quiet transformation had just taken place, new ropes were installed, breathing life into a familiar habitat.

Mobi, born January 2, 2024, and Gaia, born April 12, 2024.
Though they share the same father, each has a different mother, yet they’ve grown up side by side, best friends, playful rivals, and partners in mischief.

The old ropes, once a source of playful climbing, had lost their charm, they were now too low and uninspiring for the rapidly growing girls. But today, all that changed. The zookeepers introduced a fresh set of higher, stronger ropes, custom-designed for their adventurous nature and growing strength.

From the moment the new ropes were stretched across the pavilion, Mobi and Gaia couldn’t contain their curiosity. Their eyes sparkled with excitement, and within seconds, they were dashing toward the ropes, eager to test them out.

But like true sisters, this wasn’t going to be a peaceful turn-taking event. Every climb turned into a battle of wills:

“Who climbs first?” became the day’s biggest question.

If Mobi managed to scramble up first, Gaia would tug at her ankle until she came tumbling down.

And when Gaia got the upper hand, Mobi wasn’t shy about pulling her right back.

The video was taken on July 30, 2025 at Prague Zoo and we can see two gorilla sisters Mobi - January 2, 2024 and Gaia - April 12, 2024. (They have the same father, but each has a different mother). New ropes are stretched in the pavilion and the girls are very interested in that. They didn't enjoy the old one much anymore because it was too low for them and now it's time to give them new ones. The girls are excited about them, they are constantly arguing about who will climb first. And if one climbs first and the other doesn't like it, she will calmly pull her sister down. They don't mind falling hard, they quickly pick themselves up and climb again. They swing differently, but they like hanging on them with their heads down and laughing the most.
