MOTION GRAPHIC VIDEO SHOWS ROUTE AND AREA ON MAP WHERE HELICOPTER CRASHED MISSISSIPPI RIVER, US - AUG. 7, 2025: At least two people were killed after a helicopter struck a power line and crashed onto a barge on the Mississippi River between Illinois and Missouri, local authorities said Thursday, Aug. 7.
Emergency crews, including fire and medical teams, were dispatched to the scene. As a precaution, commercial traffic on the Mississippi River was temporarily suspended following the incident.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
