VARIOUS OF DEMONSTRATORS GATHERED FOR PROTEST HOLDING FLAGS, BANNERS WHILE CHANTING AND HITTING EMPTY POTS WITH SPOONS (NIGHT SHOTS)ATHENS, GREECE - AUG. 10, 2025: Greece on Sunday saw tens of thousands of people taking to the streets in a nationwide mobilization against the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza. Responding to a joint call by the Greek chapters of Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) and the Global March to Gaza initiative as well as the Palestinian community in Greece, protesters rallied in over 100 locations, including Athens, the nearby port city of Piraeus, the western port city of Patra, the northern port city of Thessaloniki, as well as the islands of Mykonos, Santorini, Amorgos, Chios, Tinos, and Syros. Carrying Palestinian flags and banners expressing support for Palestine and condemnation of Israel’s genocidal war and policies in Gaza, the protestors chanted slogans such as “Victory to the resistance," “Freedom to Palestine,” and “End genocide in Palestine,” among others. Israel has been facing mounting outrage over its deadly war on Gaza, where it has killed more than 61,400 people since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave and blocked humanitarian aid for months, pushing it to the verge of famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
