Palestine supporters blocked an Israeli cruise ship carrying tourists in Greece.

More than 300 protesters gathered in Syros on Tuesday, July 22, preventing the vessel from docking at the port.

Footage shows demonstrators assembled near the harbour, chanting pro-Palestinian slogans and holding placards. Many waved Palestinian flags under the summer heat.

The Crown Iris cruise ship, operated by Israeli company Mano Maritime, was carrying around 1,600 passengers and had been scheduled to stop in Ermoupoli for a six-hour visit.

However, due to the protest action, the vessel diverted its route and continued to Limassol, Cyprus, instead.

Greece remains a popular travel destination for Israeli tourists, due to its proximity, Mediterranean beaches, and shared regional history.

Local media reported that more than 59,000 Palestinians have lost their lives as a result of the military operations.

Israel has blitzed the Gaza Strip in retaliation for a terror attack by the governing party Hamas on a Jewish music festival on October 7, 2023.

However, the situation, which Israel claims is self-defence, has attracted criticism from around the world.
