Kumamoto, Japan - August 10, 2025 On August 10, Kumamoto was overwhelmed by raging floodwaters after relentless heavy rains battered the region, as shown in a video filmed by X user Kumamoto. The video captures a red vehicle nearly submerged while a person wades through the rising, powerful waters engulfing streets. Homes, stores, and vehicles across the area have suffered severe damage. The swift and forceful flow of the Kuma River, infamous for its flooding, has intensified the crisis, pushing water levels dangerously high and worsening the destruction. Kumamoto said: "The town is wrapped in rain… Some flooding has appeared in parts of Kumamoto. Our shuttle vehicle was also submerged. For those outside, please don’t overexert yourselves and prioritize safety."
