The main celebrations took place at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for a record 103 minutes—his longest Independence Day speech to date. Modi also unfurled Indian flag at the Red Fort. Dressed in a saffron-colored attire, PM Modi delivered his 12th consecutive Independence Day address from the iconic Mughal-era monument. The ceremony began with a Guard of Honour by the Armed Forces and Delhi Police, followed by a 21-gun salute and a flower petal shower from Indian Air Force helicopters. In his speech, PM Modi touched upon several key issues. He issued a strong message to Pakistan regarding nuclear threats, stressing India’s commitment to peace while asserting its readiness to defend itself. The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s progress in semiconductor manufacturing as part of the “Make in India” initiative, aiming to establish the country as a global tech hub. Additionally, he announced upcoming GST reforms, framing them as a "Diwali bonanza" for citizens. Throughout his address, Modi reiterated his government’s focus on infrastructure development, digital India, and social welfare schemes. Lasting 103 minutes, the speech surpassed his previous record of 98 minutes in 2024. The event was attended by senior officials, diplomats, and citizens, with nationwide celebrations including flag-hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs. Writing by Sibel Uygun
