Sand artist makes beach sculpture celebrating India Independence Day
A sand artist created a beach sculpture to celebrate India's 79th Independence Day.
Visual storyteller Sudarshan Patnaik crafted the artwork on Puri Beach in Odisha, paying tribute to ‘Operation Sindoor' on August 15.
The sculpture features a map of India adorned with a symbolic image of sindoor, a red vermilion powder, representing the courage and sacrifice of the nation's armed forces.
Patnaik said: 'On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, my sand art at Puri Beach commemorates Operation Sindoor, celebrating the spirit of a progressive, empowered, and united India.'
The internationally acclaimed artist is renowned for using his craft to convey powerful messages of national pride and social awareness.
Operation Sindoor refers to a series of precision strikes carried out by India targeting terrorist infrastructure and military installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
