China Media Group (CMG), the nation's flagship broadcaster, will broadcast the grand gathering marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in 85 languages. The grand gathering, which will include a military parade, is scheduled for Sept. 3 in Tian'anmen Square in Beijing. The CMG has added three new languages, namely Irish, Pidgin and Kinyarwanda, to better showcase the event globally and demonstrate its position as a world-class new mainstream media organization. Irish covers Ireland, Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom and some countries or regions in North America, with about 7.2 million people speaking this language. Pidgin covers Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and other countries, with a total of more than 10 million Pidgin speakers worldwide. Kinyarwanda users mainly live in countries including Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with more than 13 million speakers worldwide. The more comprehensive broadcast language will further enhance the coverage of CMG in western Europe, the South Pacific, and central and eastern Africa. Meanwhile, China Global Television Network (CGTN), the international division of CMG, has launched a series of in-depth documentaries, feature programs, reports and commentaries highlighting the great spirit of resistance under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in the run-up to the commemorative events. Productions include the feature film "The Unsung Ally," the report series "The Main Eastern Battlefield," the video series "Songs of Resilience" and "Side by Side," as well as long-form essays and commentary videos. These works have resonated strongly with audiences overseas. At present, CGTN has more than 700 million television users and 600 million new media followers globally, and has established cooperative partnerships with over 4,700 mainstream media outlets worldwide.
