Storyline: Iran is open to diplomatic solutions for its nuclear issue, but will not yield to any threats, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said at a press conference Tuesday in Tehran. Commenting on Iran's ongoing talks with France, Britain and Germany (E3) in Geneva, Baghaei said the three countries have conflicting positions as they claim to negotiate while pressing Iran with illegal sanctions. "The diplomatic path to solving Iran's nuclear issue will never be closed as long as the dialogue and negotiation serve the national interest. However, we have repeatedly emphasized that Iran will never yield to any threats or compromise in exchange for any form of concession," said Baghaei. Baghaei said Iran is fully aware of the negative consequences of a possible reinstatement of UN sanctions under the snapback mechanism and is working to prevent it. He stressed that the E3 lack the legal and moral authority to trigger the mechanism. The E3 have recently warned of using the snapback clause, which would restore all UN sanctions on Iran if it violates the nuclear agreement. Business owners in Iran's tourism city Isfahan said the local economy had already been severely affected since the U.S. imposed the "maximum pressure" campaign against Iran in this February. Any increased sanctions on Iran will make the economic situation worse. "People's purchasing power is very low in the current economic situation. I can tell that people are very cautious about spending money and are no longer buying handicrafts like they used to. The market for both international tourists and locals has been severely affected. Our sales are much lower than before," said Saman, a handicraft shop owner. Some locals said Western countries are using the "nuclear issue" as a pretext to weaken Iran through sanctions, but the Iranian people will never yield despite the impact of sanctions. "The Western sanctions on Iran are extremely unfair to the Iranian people. But we have already learned how to respond firmly. We can see that the tourism industry has been impacted, but the Iranian people will never bow to pressure," said Jabbar, a shop owner in Isfahan. Shotlist: Tehran, Iran - Aug 26, 2025: 1.
