St George's flags multiply in Kent after council allows them to remain flying, UK
St. George's flags have multiplied across Kent, UK after the county council allowed them to remain (August 30).
Footage shows flags attached to every lamp post along a coastal road in Sheerness, which have been increasing in number over the last week.
Kent County Council published a statement on their website permitting the flags to be attached to their lamp posts saying: "KCC Highways teams will not be removing flags from buildings and lamp posts across Kent unless they pose a safety risk to road users and the public."
Brits have attributed various meanings to the displays with differing opinions - some believe the flags are displays of pride and patriotism - whilst others seem them as a protest and some as provocative.
The displays started last week after a national online movement called 'Operation Raise the Colours'.
