Artists walked a giant shipping rope through a Kent, UK high street this afternoon (August 9).

The project called Good Tidings - 'Rope Walk' - saw artists and residents carry the giant rope from Sheerness town centre to a beach cove a mile away.

Good Tidings is a new artwork by Simon Kenyon, Rebecca Lee, Bethany wells and Sheppey residents, commissioned by Cement Fields.

The rope featured later in a 'Tidal Dial' ceremony, being moved down the beach hourly as the tide receded.

Footage always shows participants performing a shanty at the start of the walk.
