Timeless Beauty: East Grinstead Classic Motor Show - A Vintage Car Lover's Dream

Buy video

When I went to the High Street in East Grinstead on Sunday 7th of September and realised that the East Grinstead Classic Motor Show was on, it was a very pleasant surprise. I don't drive and have no mechanical knowledge of cars; but I love the look of sports cars and old classic cars. It seems to me that new hybrid cars are starting to all look the same (apart from their badges); so it is always nice to see beautiful streamlined vintage cars of character, which have been polished and lovingly cared for by their owners, over many years. There are some wonderful examples of prestigious brands such as Jaguar, Rolls Royce, MG, Morris Minor and an incredibly wide Plymouth from the 1950's, in a shade of light green that is a typical colour of that era. .

It was a beautiful sunny day on Sunday and all the cars were gleaming in the sunlight. They looked very at home parked in the ancient High Street of the old market town of East Grinstead. Everyone was relaxed and happy, strolling around admiring the cars. So when I got home after filming several video clips of the vintage motors, I opened GarageBand on my Mac and made a composition mixed with slow, ethereal music loops, because some of the video footage is in slow-motion. I kept the sounds of the visitors chatting for the first part of the video. So the slow pace of the video and the music suits the relaxed pace of that early September day.

I hope people who watch this video will have as much fun car-spotting as I did. My husband also enjoyed looking at the cars, but we were glad to stop after a while, to rest and have lunch. East Grinstead has a high number of excellent restaurants of cuisines from all over the world; and the High Street has several of our favourites.

I like the video as it is, from my own point of view, but would be happy for news agencies to re-edit, shorten or adjust it at will; or replace my own music with their newsreel music, or with a voiceover, as long as I am credited with the filming (and the music, if it's used). I also don't mind this video being used for AI image generator training for visual car reference material. As a graphic designer I understand how useful AI is in making everything from smart presentations to TV advertisements, movies and music videos.
