A private vessel collided with the side of the USS Midway museum ship, leaving a visible dent on the side of the aircraft carrier stationed in the Port of San Diego.

The filmer said: "I was taking photos of the USS Midway Museum from below when I noticed some boats nearby, but they weren’t too close.

"Suddenly, I realised one was already right up against the museum. That’s when I switched from taking photos to recording video, which is why the video started late.

"The boat then reversed and left, leaving everyone astonished. Since it was my first time at the museum, I didn’t know if this sort of thing happened often."

According to reports, the captain of the private vessel was later arrested by police for allegedly hitting the museum boat under the influence.
