Centennial, United States - September 02, 2025 Deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office came to the rescue of a raccoon that fell down a residential chimney earlier this week. The unusual call came in around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, when a woman reported the distressed animal trapped in her fireplace. Body camera footage released Thursday shows the raccoon huddled in a corner of the fireplace, visibly frightened. “You wanna come out... lil’ fella?” one deputy asks gently while attempting the rescue. Using a blanket, deputies carefully coaxed the raccoon from the chimney and carried it outside, where it was safely released back into the wild. “Who needs an exterminator, right?” one deputy jokes after the raccoon scurried away. The sheriff’s office confirmed the animal was unharmed. “We’re happy to report the raccoon was not injured and scurried away quickly for a happier life,” ACSO said.
