The bodies were taken in a procession from Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj to the Pashupati Aryaghat temple grounds. Mourners carried flowers and placards, while soldiers also attended the ceremonies. Newly appointed Interior Minister Om Prakash Aryal said after a Cabinet meeting that Sept. 17 would be observed as a national day of mourning. Public institutions will be closed and national flags flown at half-staff, according to OnlineKhabar. Authorities also announced plans to establish a “Generation Z Awareness Park” in honor of the victims. At least 51 people were killed and many others injured in the mass protests this week triggered by a ban on social media platforms. The protests evolved into a broader movement against alleged corruption and nepotism among the political elite, with demonstrators targeting residences, the Supreme Court, and other public buildings.
