Humanoid Chinese robot gets beaten up as part of stress tests
A Chinese-made humanoid robot endured blows and kicks as part of rigorous stress testing to evaluate its durability and performance.
Footage shows a machine operator delivering kicks to the torso and back of the Unitree G1 automaton at the Active Intelligent System Laboratory of Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen, China.
The robot can be seen in a fighting stance, performing a series of shadow kicks while the man observes nearby at SUSTech's ACT Lab on September 14.
Despite the aggressive attacks, the grey robot remained standing its ground.
Earlier this year, on March 4, Yushu Wang Xingxing, founder and CEO of Unitree, sparred with the humanoid to showcase its combat capabilities. The robot executed a stunning 720-degree roundhouse kick, successfully disarming Yushu.
China has been increasingly integrating robots into public life, deploying humanoid robots for community services, autonomous vehicles for public security, and service robots in hospitality and retail sectors.
On March 26, the G1 robot, created by Unitree and dressed in a stylish violet flowy top, made its debut at the Xintiandi show venue during Shanghai Fashion Week.
Human and animal-like robots are being developed in several countries, with China and the United States leading the 'tech arms race.'
A military-style robot dog has even been spotted protecting President Donald Trump's home in Florida.
Meanwhile, eccentric billionaire Elon Musk recently unveiled Optimus, describing it as a multi-functional assistant capable of handling household chores, playing with children, and performing repetitive tasks.
